Better Boards. Better Communities.

We move not-for-profit boards from monthly reviews to setting strategic direction for impact in and on their communities. Transform your board from simply "not-for-profit", to having a measurable impact.

Governance is indeed leadership. Great boards improve the quality of experience of people who live and work in their communities – whether municipal, association or campus.

Better Boards.

Better Communities.

We move not-for-profit boards from monthly reviews to setting strategic direction for impact in and on their communities. From a negative, not-for-profit, to a positive, for impact, improving the quality of experience of people who live and work in their communities, however defined (municipal, association, campus). Governance is leadership.

We partner with Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors and Board Chairs to complement your ongoing education programs.

"As an elected councillor, educator, board member and advisor to industry, Ken Haycock has always been a strong advocate for improved governance and transparency, whether to make government more open, accessible and responsive to stakeholders or to help a company respond to serious challenges. He has always been a leader in building collaboration and showing others how to become expert collaborators themselves."

"Ken has been fabulous to work for. In his role of Board Chair of the Kay Meek Theatre for the Performing Arts, he has been incredibly well organized, efficient in running our meetings, always focussing on the best interest of the theatre and its patrons. He has a very strong work ethic that has taken much of the burden of the rest of our Board. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with him over the last year."

Dr. Haycock holds an MBA, MEd and AMLS in addition to a doctorate in leadership and management. He has been on the senior leadership teams of large school boards and multi-million-dollar associations as well as chairing small arts and association boards. Currently research professor (honorary) at the University of Southern California, he is former director and professor emeritus at both San Jose State University and the University of British Columbia. Ken lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Boards often have little time or capacity for onboarding and ongoing board development. Through starter, spotlight and signature courses and resources, we address the needs of boards and their members and support their Executive Directors. The programs are based on extensive consultation with Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors, Board Chairs and new and experienced board members across the continent.

We thus enable not-for-profit boards to have greater impact on the quality of life of those who live and work in their communities.

Our approach is unique. We are not “stand-alone” but complement the onsite orientation of new board members and let boards choose topics and resources that meet their specific needs.
